Reserve 2022 Icelandic Lambs!
Rough Forage Farm is offering an interesting selection of Icelandic lambs for sale for the 2022 season. I am breeding 13 registered, horned ewes for 2022, and while there may be up to 24 lambs born, I am only taking 10 reservations to make sure that I can offer the best quality out of the lambing crop for breeding stock. Lambs will be born in late April/early May and will be ready to join new flocks by August. If you would like to reserve a lamb or lambs, you can specify a preference of ewe or ram and even breeding pair from the foundation flock page, and I will do my best to meet all requests after the lambs arrive.
I do not sell single lambs unless they are going to a home with other sheep present. Sheep are flock animals and do not thrive alone. Therefore, I will sell pairs (or more) to those just starting out with sheep, and singles only to established flocks.
The lambs will be registered, and are from a scrape compliant, grass-fed flock. I am happy to offer support and resource connections to new shepherds!
Rough Forage Farm’s registered, Icelandic lambs are from a flock which has been intentionally selected for high quality AI genetics, with large frames, wide horn sets, meaty, milky characteristics, nice fleeces and good parasite resistance. If there is a specific quality you are looking for, please let me know and I will help guide your selection. While all of the current stock are very nice overall sheep, I have some individuals who shine for their fleeces, others who are meatier, and a handful of outstanding milkers, and can help guide your selection based on what traits you are seeking.
Delivery may be available in Maine, and greater New England, and to parts of New York for a reasonable transportation fee.
Registered 2022 lambs are $400 total, and deposits to reserve a lamb are $100 per animal.
